Camden County officials announced that engineering problems due to a bad batch of concrete delayed the completion of work on the Newton Creek bridge on W. Park Blvd. in Haddon Township. The bridge had been closed since September and should have been reopened in December. Instead, reopening was scheduled for March.

Hard feelings swirled around the selection committee for the Haddonfield Citizen of the Year Award after the Haddonfield Civic Association excluded its typical representative in favor of the inclusion of the previous two award winners. Still, the Lions Club said the award selection process would remain unbiased.

The Oaklyn Board of Education approved a shared service contract with the Collingswood School District for business office services at a cost of $52,500 annually after Oaklyn’s business administrator submitted her resignation. The contract was expected to save Oaklyn around $40,000 per year.

Collingswood approved a two-year deal to keep police chief Rich Sarlo in his position since the department did not have any captains or lieutenants to move up and succeed the chief. It did have a number of sergeants and a corporal who handled administrative duties, but the CPD needed an administrative reorganization.
