It might still be early in the season but scoring does not seem to be a problem for the Haddon Township girls lacrosse team. Besides a 5-1 record in the SJILL National Division standings, the squad has tallied at least 10 goals in every game but one so far this season. That also happens to be the one game Haddon Township dropped to Williamstown, 10-8.
The Haddon Heights softball team is looking for a three-peat and the Garnets certainly have the personnel to make it happen. Entering the season with two consecutive Group 2 state championships, the Garnets have a mix of youth and experience.
Dawn Staley Award Winner Announced
Hannah Hidalgo has added yet another individual honor to her trophy case - the Dawn Staley Award. This is the same Dawn Staley who led the South Carolina women’s basketball team to an undefeated 2023-24 season and national championship.
The Haddon Heights High School baseball team is among the early leaders in the Colonial Conference standings thanks to a 2-0 start. Through their first two games, the Garnets have outscored St. Joseph’s (Hammonton) and Paulsboro by a combined 19-2 score.
Sean Colbert was a starting pitcher during his high school career at Audubon, but the hard-throwing righthander has certainly adapted to the bullpen. Colbert is a junior in eligibility at Rowan University and he is the closer for a Profs team that has qualified for six of the past nine NCAA Division III tournaments.
Ryan Johnston’s recently completed basketball career at Audubon was one of steady progression. In each of his varsity years, his statistics improved and more important, so did Audubon’s win total. As a sophomore, Johnston averaged 7.2 points for a team that went 6-17. During his junior year, he averaged 15.7 points and the Green Wave improved to 12-14.
Reddick on the Move
When the 2024 football season rolls around, Haddon Heights High School grad Haason Reddick will be playing for a different team - the New York Jets. The Philadelphia Eagles traded Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, to the Jets for a 2026 draft pick. New York hosted an introductory press conference on Monday.
Rainy weather literally delayed the start of the South Jersey spring sports season. Instead of posting scores and highlights on X/Twitter, schools shared rescheduling announcements.
